Gas Price War Continues in Mocksville

Ever since a new convenience store opened three weeks ago and sold gasoline at $3.29 a gallon, the prices are still among the lowest in the state.

Mocksville gasoline still hovers around that same price point today, despite average prices going up since then. Sheetz has kept its promotional price, and when one competitor decided to match it, other stations filed suit.

Drivers said they are happy to find relief.

"You're putting miles on your cars and then you got to use up all the gas that you're coming up here to save. But when you're saving 25 cents on the gallon it's well worth it," said Linda Swing, who said she drove to Mocksville all the way from Rowan County, where gas is $3.54 a gallon.

"I have friends who live outside Yadkinville who are going to come to Mocksville to try to save," another driver said.
